We humans are neurologically hard wired to develop habits in the way we move and position our bodies to get things done. It’s the way we learn physical skills and habits for home and job activities. We call this process neural patterning.
Frequently people will develop habits in their body postures and movements that are far more stressful than others to get their work done. (Bending and twisting at the waist is a great example of this.) We habitually repeat these stressful working techniques day in and out, and over the years we accumulate more and more damage to our muscles, joints and other tissues. In the initial years, we feel OK because we have not yet accumulated enough damage to experience problems that concern us.
But eventually painful injuries and soft tissue conditions develop. Root cause analysis frequently reveals nothing seemed to cause the problem other than the employee performing the job itself. This can be frustrating if you want to control this problem because it seems that the problem is a function of the work itself, when it is not.
What if you could bring a program to your company that would dramatically reduce the incidence of these conditions and injuries in your workplace?
